This campout signified the start of twelve of our fifteen new Webelos Scouting Career. There were a total of twenty two Scouts and eight adult volunteers (six new parent volunteers to the group). The event was filled with learning opportunities including fishing and cooking merit badges, as well as Totin Chip and basic scout skills including tent set up/take down, and basic kitchen skills for the new scouts.
The outing allowed all 12 of the new scouts to complete all but two of the requirements for Scout badge as well as a couple of Tenderfoot Rank Requirements. Older scouts began work on Cooking and Fishing merit badges. We, as the adult leaders, were very impressed to see how our older scouts welcomed the new scouts and stepped up to start teaching them the fundamental skills needed to be successful on outings.
The trip resulted in three of the boys catching and eating trout with their evening meal. A big thanks to the new parent volunteers for stepping up and assisting throughout the weekend.
